The Sun Voyager
Sunrise at Last!
Because sunset and sunrise are so close to each other in the northern summer, I decided to stay awake for the "night" and wait for sunrise. I was relieved when the sun finally appeared from behind the clouds, and I could go to sleep.
Playful puffin shot in eastern Iceland. They're a mixture of cute and clumsy, and simply a lot of fun to watch.
Black and white rendition of Kirkjufell mountain and waterfall under menacing clouds on the Snaefellsnes penninsula in Iceland.
The Other Side
The other side of Kirkjufell, that is. The most photographed mountain in Iceland was right behind me as I took this shot of the setting sun.
The second-most classic view of Skogafoss in southern Iceland.
Defying the Elements
Icebergs in Iceland's Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon before sunset.
A group of hikers on Svinafellsjökull, a glacier near Skaftafell, Iceland. I loved the dramatic landscape in Iceland, and the human element often adds a welcome sense of scale, including in this shot here.
A rock formation in the Berserkjarhaun lava field on Iceland's Snaefellsnes penninsula. Volcanoes are looming in the distance.
Moment of Tranquility
Black is Colorful
Solidified lava stram in Iceland's Krafla eruption site. The entire site is an absolutely stunning place with steam emanating from cracks and volcanos all around, but once in a while it pays of to focus on more intimate scenes.
